Our body tempreture falls while we go for sleep. If your feets are cold you may find difficult to fall asleep, In such a condition people may wear socks to avoid coolness in the feet and help fall asleep, But there is a myth that we should not wear socks while sleeping.
Heating cold feet causes vasodilation which means dilation of the blood vessels—which may tell the brain that it is bedtime. After the blood vessels open in the hands and feet, heat is redistributed throughout the body to prepare for sleep.
There is no harm while wearing socks during the sleep it is just like putting clothes to your body when you feel cold. In same way you are putting on socks bcz of cold feet.
It may seem like wearing socks in bed would overheat the feet. But, in reality, this habit might assist the body's internal temperature regulation.
A study from 2007 reported that adults who wore either normal or heated socks in bed got to sleep faster.
When your feet are cold, they constrict the blood vessels and cause less blood to circulate. According to the National Sleep Foundation, warming your feet before you go to bed helps give your brain a clear sleep signal that it’s bedtime
When someone begins to fall asleep, the temperature of their body decreases by 1 to 2 degrees. This could be because the body is conserving energy for other functions.
If a person sleeps with their socks on, this may help with their temperature regulation cycles.
There are also many other benefits of wearing socks during sleep.
Socks protect the natural moisture on your feet during the cold, dry months of winter, helping prevent or minimize cracks and dryness (especially when you apply moisturizer before putting on your socks
Are there any drawbacks to sleeping with socks on? Besides the squick factor some experience, the only real issue with sleeping with socks on is wearing the wrong socks. Here are a few to avoid.
Avoid socks that aren’t breathable or are too thick, such as compression socks (these in particular are not designed for overnight use). Instead, look for socks made from natural materials that allow airflow so you don’t get too hot.Avoid using electric blankets, hot water bottles, or heated socks for children and infants, as it may cause them to overheat. Simply dress them in normal socks after a warm bath
